NPC Generator

Sometimes you need a quick NPC. Someone for the characters to interact with in a scene. The NPC should have some unique features, a personality, and something to help the DM roleplay the NPC. That’s what the Illusory Script NPC Generator is about. We have written previously about NPCs, and this generator is built on the philosophy of these articles:

  • One-Line NPCs
  • NPC Voices and Mannerisms
  • Gimmicks For Every D&D Character (NPC and PC)

Check out these articles if you want to learn more about the ideas behind the generator. If you just need a quick NPC, here’s three from our generator:

With this tool, you won’t just create names and professions—you’ll get NPCs that your players will remember. And the best part? These NPCs are built for instant use. We don’t need to stop the session and brainstorm—just grab a character from the generator and drop them into the scene.

Each entry is crafted to provide just enough detail to make them engaging without overwhelming us with unnecessary lore. If the players get attached (as they inevitably do), we can expand on them later. But in the moment, we’ll have everything we need to roleplay with confidence.

So the next time your players throw you a curveball—demanding to talk to the random stablehand or interrogate the cook—let the Illusory Script NPC Generator do the heavy lifting.
